Srinagar, May 07 :
Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Thursday attached immovable properties worth over ₹2 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers in the Chanapora and Qamarwari areas of Srinagar.
In the first action, Police Station Chanapora attached a double-storey residential house with attic worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to accused Huzaif Shabir Dar, son of Shabir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Budshahnagar Chanapora. The accused is involved in FIR No. 01/2024 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Chanapora.
Police said that during investigation it was established that the property had been acquired through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking. Subsequently, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Officials said the attachment proceedings were conducted strictly as per legal procedure in the presence of independent witnesses. As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, or creating any third-party interest in the property until further orders.
In another major action, Police Post Qamarwari attached a double-storey residential house belonging to notorious drug peddler Basit Ahmad Baba alias Aikan, son of Mohd Yousuf Baba, a resident of Barthana Qamarwari, under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The said property, recorded in the name of his father Mohd Yousuf Baba, son of Ghulam Ahmad Baba, falls under Khasra No. 100 and is estimated to be worth more than ₹1 crore.
Police said the action is part of Srinagar Police’s continued efforts to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers by targeting assets acquired through illegal narcotics trade.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking by taking stringent legal action against offenders as well as properties generated through the illegal drug trade.
Police also appealed to the general public to cooperate and share information related to drug peddling and substance abuse to help build a safer and drug-free society.(KNC)
