Baramulla, May 8:
The Drug Control Department on Thursday sealed a medical shop located on the GMC Baramulla road after authorities found that the establishment was allegedly being operated by non-professional and unqualified persons, officials said.
According to sources, the action was taken during a surprise inspection conducted by the concerned department as part of an ongoing drive to ensure that medical stores are functioning in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations. During the inspection, officials reportedly found several irregularities, following which the shop was sealed on the spot.
Officials stated that operating a medical shop without the supervision of a qualified pharmacist is a serious violation that can put the health and safety of patients at risk. The department reiterated that strict action will continue against those violating drug and pharmacy regulations.
Locals and attendants visiting GMC Baramulla appreciated the action taken by the authorities and urged the department to continue regular inspections to prevent such practices in the future.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
