New Delhi, May 13:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five accused persons and carried out searches at several locations across the country in connection with the alleged irregularities and paper leak related to the NEET UG-2026 examination.
According to officials, the CBI registered a case on May 12, 2026, following a written complaint received from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, regarding alleged malpractices in the conduct of the NEET UG-2026 examination.
The FIR has been registered under charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
So far, five accused persons have been arrested in the case, including three from Jaipur, one from Gurugram and another from Nashik. The investigating agency said several other suspects are currently being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
CBI officials stated that searches were conducted at multiple locations across the country to collect evidence and identify the wider network allegedly involved in the examination paper leak case.(KNC)
