Uri, May 31: A joint search operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has led to the apprehension of three individuals, including two residents of Sopore, officials said on Sunday.

According to an Army statement, the operation was initiated following specific intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement in the general area of Uri. During the operation, vigilant troops of the Chinar Corps intercepted and apprehended two individuals from Sopore who were allegedly attempting to exfiltrate through the Uri sector with inimical intent.

The Army further stated that the duo was accompanied by a guide, who was also taken into custody during the operation.

Officials said the timely action by security forces helped foil the exfiltration attempt. The apprehended individuals are currently being questioned, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the motive behind the attempted movement and any possible links.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police are jointly conducting the probe, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
