Asks CM to “Pass a Statehood Resolution, Not a Chocolate Tantrum”

Srinagar, June 03:

J&K Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday tore into the National Conference government, dismissing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s much-hyped “bombshell” announcement as a spectacular anti-climax that has left the people of Jammu & Kashmir deeply underwhelmed.

Lone revealed that approximately 48 MLAs and senior party leaders had gathered in a wildlife zone, an assembly he quipped had likely “scared the indigenous inhabitants”, only to emerge with what he described as the most uninspiring political outcome imaginable: a protest sit-in at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

“I can understand protest. But where is the bombshell?” he asked pointedly. “I had thought CM sahib would do something innovative. Something that would shake the corridors of power in Delhi. That would have actually qualified as a bombshell.”

Instead, Lone said, what the ruling party delivered was nothing more than what he called a “chocolate way of throwing a tantrum” where well-behaved politicians marching to Jantar Mantar in an orderly fashion, complete with personal security details, full media coverage and the anticipated presence of prominent national figures.

“CM sahib is the most uncreative person I have come across,” Lone said bluntly. “What a damp squib. What an underwhelming outcome of so grand a threat.”

PC President further accused National Conference of using the episode as yet another diversionary tactic to draw public attention away from its governance failures and broken election promises. “Yet another attempt to divert attention from the lies of the election manifesto. Yet another attempt at sob stories,” he said.

Lone reserved his sharpest words for what he called the political immaturity on display. “Someone has to finally, even if reluctantly, grow up and stop being a baby,” he remarked, adding that ultimately “the joke is yet again on the Kashmiri who voted for them.”

Moreover, Lone offered a concrete and constructive alternative, making a strong pitch for the immediate convening of an Assembly session with one clear agenda wherein a formal resolution demanding the restoration of statehood for Jammu & Kashmir is passed.

“Pass a resolution for statehood in the Assembly,” Lone urged. “Send it to Parliament. Send it to the Chief Ministers of every state in India.” He also called for the Speaker to set aside what he described as “selective laws and unique interpretations,” and allow the resolution to be passed without procedural obstruction.
