Baramulla, June 19: Residents of Narwav and several adjoining areas in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed serious concern over the poor and sluggish internet services provided by Airtel, saying the issue has persisted despite repeated complaints and assurances from the company and concerned authorities.
The affected areas include Sheeri, Zam Zam Pora, Zogiyar, Shalteng, Pala Dhaji, Goriwan, Fatehgarh, and more than 20 surrounding villages, where thousands of subscribers are reportedly facing frequent network disruptions and extremely slow internet speeds.
According to local residents, the poor connectivity has adversely affected students, business owners, government employees, and other users who depend on internet services for education, communication, banking transactions, online services, and professional work. Many users complained that video calls, online classes, and digital payments are often interrupted due to weak network coverage and unstable internet connections.Residents said that while Airtel continues to promote its services and attract new customers through various marketing campaigns, existing subscribers are struggling to receive even basic internet facilities.
They alleged that the company’s claims of providing high-speed internet do not reflect the ground reality in the affected villages.Locals further stated that the issue has been repeatedly brought to the notice of Airtel officials and relevant authorities, but no lasting solution has been implemented so far. They urged the telecom company to upgrade its network infrastructure and improve service quality in the region.
The residents have appealed to Airtel management and the concerned telecommunications authorities to take immediate corrective measures and ensure reliable internet connectivity for the people of the area, who continue to face significant inconvenience on a daily basis.
