Srinagar, June 24 :

The 8th Muharram procession concluded peacefully in Srinagar on Wednesday, with thousands of Shia mourners participating along the traditional route from Guru Bazar to Dalgate.

Officials told GNS that elaborate arrangements were put in place by the administration and police to ensure the smooth conduct of the procession. Security personnel were deployed in strength across the route, while volunteers and local committees assisted in managing the gathering.

In view of the procession, traffic diversions were implemented from early morning to avoid congestion on M.A. Road and adjoining areas. Traffic Police had issued a detailed advisory in advance and alternative routes were designated for commuters. No major traffic disruption or untoward incident was reported.

Officials said the procession concluded without any disturbance and credited coordination between civil administration, police, and community members for the peaceful culmination. (GNS)
