JAMMU, June 24 :

In a major initiative aimed at strengthening rural employment opportunities and improving livelihoods across Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has notified the Jammu and Kashmir Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM-G] Scheme, 2026. The scheme is set to come into force across all notified rural areas of the Union Territory from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. ⁠)

The newly launched programme is aimed at accelerating rural development by creating sustainable employment opportunities, promoting self-employment, enhancing skill development, and improving the socio-economic conditions of rural households. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of achieving inclusive growth and building a developed and self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.⁠

Officials said the scheme seeks to strengthen rural livelihoods through a comprehensive framework focused on employment generation, capacity building, entrepreneurship promotion, and support for vulnerable sections of society. It is expected to benefit thousands of rural families by providing greater access to income-generating opportunities and government support mechanisms.

The notification marks a significant step in the Union Territory’s efforts to transform rural economies and ensure that development reaches the grassroots level. The scheme is also expected to complement ongoing national initiatives aimed at fostering economic empowerment and social security in rural India.

The administration believes that the implementation of the VB-G RAM-G Scheme will play a key role in reducing unemployment, strengthening village-level enterprises, and improving the quality of life in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. ⁠

With the formal notification now issued, departments concerned are expected to initiate the necessary measures for effective implementation of the scheme across the Union Territory.(KNC)
