Stresses Multi-Agency Coordination, High-Alert Policing and Incident-Free Pilgrimage

Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the overall preparedness of the Jammu Zone for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, directing officers to ensure comprehensive security and seamless coordination for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
According to a police statement issued to KNC, the meeting was attended by senior security and police officials, including the Special DGP Coordination J&K, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 26 Division, Commissioner Security Jammu, Inspector Generals of Police for Railways, Security and Jammu Zone, senior officers of the CRPF and BSF, Deputy Inspectors General of various ranges and central forces, besides Senior Superintendents of Police from across the Jammu Zone.
During the meeting, the DGP reviewed the prevailing security situation and examined operational and logistical arrangements at key locations along the Yatra route. Senior officers briefed him on deployment strategies, anti-sabotage measures, surveillance mechanisms and overall preparedness for the pilgrimage.
Emphasising the importance of a strong and coordinated security framework, the DGP directed the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies and civil administration to work in close coordination to maintain a robust security grid throughout the Yatra period.
He instructed officers to ensure effective area domination, intensified checking at strategic points, strict access control at vulnerable locations and enhanced surveillance through the optimum use of modern technology.
The DGP also called for high-visibility policing and swift response capabilities, directing all field formations to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining continuous real-time monitoring to effectively deal with any emerging situation.
Reviewing traffic management and convoy regulation, Prabhat stressed the need for smooth vehicular movement to facilitate the safe passage of pilgrims while minimising inconvenience to the general public.
He further directed officers to maintain close coordination with health departments, disaster response agencies and other concerned stakeholders to ensure efficient emergency response and seamless arrangements for devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
Reiterating that the safety, security and confidence of pilgrims remain the top priority, the DGP urged all officers to remain vigilant, professionally prepared and fully equipped to respond to any eventuality. He expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts, the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra would be conducted peacefully, securely and without any untoward incident, the statement added. (KNC)
