Bandipora, July 01,:

A cloudburst triggered flash flooding in the Tulail Valley of Gurez on Wednesday, damaging a key road and causing a sharp rise in the water level of the Kishanganga Nallah, prompting the local administration to remain on alert.

Officials said the cloudburst occurred over the Zadigay Nallah near Zadigay village, sending a surge of water through the stream and damaging the Kilshay–Zadigay road, affecting connectivity in the area.

The administration, however, said there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to residential property.

Tehsildar Tulail Javid Ahmad Dar told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that teams would be deputed to assess the extent of the damage and initiate restoration of the affected road at the earliest. He added that authorities were closely monitoring the rising water level in the Kishanganga Nallah to prevent any further risk.

As a precaution, residents living near streams and other vulnerable areas have been advised to remain vigilant while officials continue to monitor the situation. [KNT]
