HANDWARA, MAY 26:

A minor boy died after drowning in a pond in Nichihama village of Rajwar in north Kashmir’s Handwara on Wednesday evening.

An official saying the boy identified as 4-year-old Anzar Javid Mir, son of Javid Ahmad Mir resident of Nichihama drowned in the pond adjacent to his home.

He said that soon after the news spread in the locality, people rushed to the spot and retrieved his body.

The minor was rushed to a nearby hospital in unconscious condition where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

After completing the legal formalities the body was handed over to the family for last rites, the official added.

Meanwhile, a police officer also confirmed the incident.
