Veteran statesman expresses concern over Ladakhi activist’s health, says nation cannot afford to lose a visionary innovator.

NEW DELHI, July 15:
Veteran statesman Dr. Karan Singh has appealed to Ladakhi social activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his prolonged hunger strike, expressing grave concern over the risks to his health.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Singh said that if the hunger strike continues, Wangchuk’s life could be in danger. Acknowledging that the activist had already conveyed his message, he urged him to resume a normal diet.
“I appeal to him that, having made his point, he should now resume a normal diet,” Dr. Singh said.
Describing Wangchuk as a gifted innovator and a dedicated contributor to the development of Ladakh, Dr. Singh stressed that the country could not afford to lose such a valuable personality.
“We can ill afford to lose such a talented innovator who has made an important contribution to life in Ladakh over the years,” he added.
Dr. Singh’s appeal comes amid growing concern over Wangchuk’s health as his prolonged fast continues, with supporters and well-wishers closely monitoring the situation.(SNS)
