Baramulla, July 23:

The District Magistrate, Baramulla has issued an order prohibiting individuals, NGOs, trusts and organizations from collecting donations or relief funds in the district without prior permission from the competent authority.

The order, issued on July 21, 2026, follows inputs from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, regarding unauthorized fundraising by certain individuals claiming to collect relief for victims of natural calamities.

According to the order, several persons failed to produce any valid authorization, permission or supporting documents during verification. The administration stated that such unauthorized collections raise concerns over transparency, accountability and possible misuse of public goodwill.

The order directs that no individual, organization, NGO or trust shall undertake any donation or fund collection drive in Baramulla without obtaining proper permission from the competent authority. SSP Baramulla/Sopore and all Executive Magistrates have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the order and initiate legal action against violators as per the relevant provisions of law.
