In a significant preventive policing measure aimed at maintaining public order and deterring criminal activities, Baramulla Police has ordered the opening of a History Sheet and entry of Ashiq Hussain Ganai @ Ashiq MLA, son of Ghulam Mohd. Ganai, resident of Khawajabagh, Baramulla, into the Surveillance Register under Jammu & Kashmir Police Rules.
The action follows due legal process, including the issuance of a show-cause notice and consideration of the individual’s written reply/objections. After examining the police record and the response submitted, the competent authority found that the individual’s repeated involvement in multiple cognizable offences over a considerable period, along with his criminal antecedents, warranted preventive surveillance in accordance with the provisions of the J&K Police Rules.
The order has been issued purely as a preventive measure to facilitate effective monitoring of habitual offenders in the interest of public safety, crime prevention, and maintenance of law and order. It has also been directed that the individual shall not leave the territorial jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla without prior written permission of the SHO concerned, and any authorized movement shall remain subject to verification and surveillance as per the prescribed rules.

Baramulla Police remains committed to taking firm and lawful action against habitual offenders and will continue to adopt preventive measures to maintain peace, uphold the rule of law, and ensure the safety and security of the people of the district.
