Chairman Ab Qayoom Wani says personal ambition has overshadowed public welfare; urges political parties to rise above rivalries and work for the dignity and future of Jammu & Kashmir.

In a press statement Chairman jammu kashmir civil society Forum Ab Qayoom wani expressed serious concern over the present state of politics in Jammu & Kashmir which seems deeply disappointing. Wani said Instead of standing united at a time when the people of Kashmir continue to face disempowerment and uncertainty, political leaders across party lines are busy levelling allegations against one another, exposing not only each other’s failures but also the ugly reality of politics that has prevailed for decades.
Ironically, this political mudslinging has revealed what the people always deserved to know—that personal ambition has repeatedly been placed above the collective interests of Jammu & Kashmir. At a time when the people needed visionary leadership, these self-styled leaders remained consumed by their own political milestones, leaving public welfare as an afterthought.
Wani said Kashmir has always been home to one of the most politically conscious and aware electorates in the country. Yet, over the years, these very politicians have systematically shrunk the space for individuals with courage, integrity, character, and fresh ideas to enter public life. They turned politics into a means of protecting personal interests rather than a platform for serving the people. As a result, many bright and capable minds have chosen to stay away from politics, unwilling to become part of a culture driven by self-interest instead of public service.
Wani said the people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve leaders who unite, inspire confidence, and work with honesty—not politicians who thrive on division, blame games, and endless political theatrics.
I urge every political party and every political leader to rise above personal rivalries and ambitions, and focus on what truly matters—the welfare, dignity, and future of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
If they continue to fail in this responsibility, the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) will not remain a silent spectator. We will place before the people and the media the true face of those who have, for years, betrayed the trust of the public. It is these political opportunists who have not only weakened the democratic aspirations of the people but have also tarnished the image of Jammu & Kashmir and its people across the country.
Wani said that history remembers those who serve, not those who merely seek power.It is time the people of Jammu & Kashmir stand behind individuals who possess integrity, moral character, compassion, courage, vision, and an unwavering commitment to public service—not those who seek power for personal gain.
The people of Jammu & Kashmir have always been politically conscious. It is now time to use that consciousness to support leadership that is built on principles, accountability, and service—not personality cults, empty promises, or political opportunism.
Only when we choose character over charisma, service over self-interest, and leadership over politics, can Jammu & Kashmir move towards a brighter and more dignified future.
