RAMBAN, Aug 7 :

The suspicious Scorpio vehicle that was fired upon by police after it refused to stop at a checkpoint in Ramban district in the early hours of Friday has been traced, officials said.

The incident took place near the police Naka point at Chanderkote on NH-44, close to JP Gate, when a Scorpio travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu was signalled to stop.

“The vehicle did not stop despite repeated signals. Police personnel fired 3 rounds upon the vehicle as a precautionary measure,” an official said.
Following the firing, the Scorpio fled towards the Nashri side.

Officials said the vehicle has now been found, but the occupants managed to flee from the spot. A joint search by police, CRPF and Army is underway to trace them.
