Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC), Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, on Saturday chaired a meeting in the ADC Office Chamber, Handwara, to review and finalize arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day Celebrations 2026.
It was informed that the main Independence Day function will be held at District Police Lines (DPL), Handwara, where a colourful and patriotic programme will be organized. In addition, Independence Day functions will also be organized at all Tehsil and Block Headquarters, as well as at educational institutions across Sub-Division Handwara.
The ADC reviewed arrangements pertaining to venue management, sanitation and cleanliness, security, traffic regulation, power and water supply, seating arrangements, decoration, Public Address System, cultural programmes and other essential facilities.
The parade and ceremonial proceedings at the main function will witness the participation of contingents from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian Reserve Police (IRP), Frontier Police Force (FPF), Home Guards, NCC cadets and school children. A Police Band will also participate in the celebrations, adding to the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
The ADC directed all officers and officials of concerned departments to ensure their participation in the Independence Day function and remain present as per the approved programme. He emphasized that active participation by officers and officials would further contribute to the successful and befitting conduct of the national celebration.
The ADC further directed all concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of their assigned responsibilities and maintain close coordination to avoid any last-minute inconvenience. He stressed that all arrangements should be put in place well in advance to ensure that the celebrations are conducted in a befitting, disciplined and patriotic atmosphere.
Emphasizing the significance of Independence Day, the ADC called upon all stakeholders to work with dedication and commitment and ensure seamless coordination among all departments and agencies involved in the celebrations.
He further directed the concerned officers to remain proactive, adhere strictly to the approved programme and ensure adequate arrangements for the safety, convenience and participation of the general public.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Handwara and other concerned officers of Handwara sub division.
