The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu and Kashmir Police and Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday said they have seized 603 grams of suspected heroin and apprehended one person during a coordinated anti-narcotics operation in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district.

As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the operation was conducted on August 13 based on specific intelligence inputs in an area known for past narcotics-related activities.

During the operation, the joint team seized 603 grams of suspected heroin along with a motorcycle allegedly used in furtherance of the illicit activity. The accused, a resident of Vijaypur, Samba, was apprehended on the spot.

The NCB said the operation was conducted under high-risk and hostile circumstances, with the coordinated presence of the three agencies enabling the operation to be swiftly brought under control despite resistance encountered during the operation.

The seizure comes a day after the NCB recovered 438 grams of suspected heroin in Jammu, underscoring the sustained anti-narcotics operations being carried out by the agency in the region.

The seized contraband and motorcycle have been secured, while further investigation is underway to unravel the forward and backward linkages, the NCB said.—(KNO)
