Anantnag, September 11:
Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has issued a strict circular directing all doctors, nursing staff, paramedical and technical personnel, interns, students and other healthcare workers to adhere to the prescribed professional dress code while performing their duties at the college and its associated hospitals.
According to the circular issued by the Principal, GMC Anantnag, the administration has observed that some staff members were performing their duties without following the prescribed professional dress code, particularly the mandatory apron. The administration stated that such practice is contrary to professional standards, hospital discipline and proper conduct and could invite disciplinary action under the applicable rules.
The circular directs Medical Officers, Residents, House Surgeons/Interns, Nursing Staff, Technicians, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and other allied healthcare personnel to strictly wear the prescribed professional apron along with their Identity Card while on duty.
The directions apply particularly to staff working in OPDs, Emergency/Casualty, wards, Operation Theatres and other clinical and service areas. All concerned have been instructed to maintain proper professionalism, discipline, decorum, hygiene and identification within the hospital premises.
The administration has further directed all Heads of Departments, the Medical Superintendent and Deputy Medical Superintendent to ensure strict compliance with the instructions by staff working under their respective control. Any instance of non-compliance has been ordered to be brought to the notice of the competent authority for appropriate action under rules.
Apron and ID Card Mandatory for Interns and Students
In a significant direction, GMC Anantnag has made it mandatory for all interns and students to wear aprons and prominently display the Identity Cards issued by the competent authority while attending the hospital and performing their academic or clinical duties.
The instructions have come into force with immediate effect.
The administration has also directed the concerned security in-charges to ensure that interns and students are not permitted to enter OPDs, Casualty, Wards, Operation Theatres and other clinical/service areas without complying with the prescribed dress-code requirements.
The circular, issued under the Health and Medical Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is aimed at ensuring a more professional, disciplined and hygienic environment besides facilitating proper identification of medical and healthcare personnel within GMC Anantnag and its associated hospitals.(KNC)
