Focus on Counter-Insurgency Operations, Area Domination, Naka Checking and Border Surveillance

Srinagar, September 16 :

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness across the Central Kashmir Range, stressing the need for continuous vigilance and swift response to emerging security challenges.

The security review meeting was held at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir and was attended by senior police officers, including DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, SSPs of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal, SSP PCR Kashmir, Staff Officer to IGP Kashmir, SPs of Srinagar and Budgam, all SDPOs and other senior officers.

During the meeting, officers briefed the IGP about the prevailing security scenario, measures undertaken in their respective jurisdictions and the existing security arrangements aimed at maintaining peace and public order.

IGP Sujit Kumar conducted a detailed assessment of the security grid and operational readiness across Central Kashmir, with particular emphasis on deployment strategies, preparedness of field formations and the effective utilisation of available resources.

The IGP directed officers to further strengthen counter-insurgency operations and area domination, while calling for intensified naka checking at vulnerable and sensitive locations.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening surveillance and security checks along inter-district borders to prevent the movement of individuals or elements posing potential security threats.

Kumar instructed field officers to keep the security arrangements dynamic, flexible and responsive, directing them to regularly assess the ground situation and reinforce deployments wherever the circumstances warrant.

The IGP further emphasised the importance of preventive policing, urging officers to identify potential threats in advance and ensure that necessary security measures remain operational at all times.

He called for close coordination among field formations, effective information sharing and sustained engagement to ensure prompt action in response to any emerging situation.

The meeting concluded with directions for maintaining round-the-clock vigilance, strengthening preventive security mechanisms and ensuring coordinated efforts among all formations to safeguard peace, public order and security across the Central Kashmir Range. (KNC)
