Among top 60 student awardees, Shahida, Mehvish of formally received awards, laptops and certificates at ICC New Delhi

National Innovation Foundation –India (NIF), an institution of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, organized an ‘Awardee Meet’ of 8th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) of the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK featuring student innovations from across the country at India International Center New Delhi in which the top 60 awardee students were formally felicitated with trophies, laptops and certificates.
Director and Chief Innovation Officer NIF Vipin Kumar was chief guest who was flanked by Tushar Garg Scientist and Assistant Public Information, Scientist, DST Dr Nitin Maurya and other officials from NIF.
Two students from Jammu and Kashmir UT including Shahida Bano Class 8th student of Government Boys Middle Schools Sheeri Payeen of education Zone Fathegarh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and Mehvish Reyaz of Government High school, Akhran Kulgam in Anathnag were among the top 60 students who were conferred awards in the 8th NLEPC of the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK featuring student innovations from all over India.
Shahida of BMS Sheeri Education Zone Fathegarh in Baramulla district has developed a vehicle key with finger-print sensor lock to prevent minors from driving of bikes and vehicles and curb car theft besides 10th class students Mehvish Reyaz of Government High school, Akhran Kulgam in Anathnag district innovated lid opener of bottles in Laboratories with chemicals.
Pertinently, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology & Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh had conferred awards to the top 60 students in the award function of 8th NLEPC-2021 for INSPIRE-MANAK in virtual mode on 8th September 2021.
The INSPIRE Awards – MANAK (MillionMinds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge), being executed by DST with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), an autonomous body of DST, aims to motivate students in studying in classes 6 to 10.
The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children
Both the student from JK UT expressed gratitude to their teachers, Headmasters, staff, DIET Sopore, Innovation Fellow Sahreen Shakeel and NIF for the guidance and mentoring.
