Property in Namblan, Sheeri linked to alleged terror-support activities; action taken under UAPA
Srinagar, September 23 :
Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP Nalin Prabhat has accorded approval for the attachment of a double-storeyed residential house in Namblan village of Sheeri, Baramulla, in connection with a terror-related case registered at Police Station Sheeri.
According to an official order issued by J&K Police Headquarters, Srinagar, the property, situated on land under Khasra No. 423-min at Village Namblan, Sheeri, Baramulla, has been ordered to be attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA).
The action has been taken in connection with FIR No. 37/2026 of Police Station Sheeri, registered under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UAPA.
PISTOL, AMMUNITION RECOVERED DURING NAKA
As per the police order, on August 1, 2026, a naka was established at Zandfarn, Goriwan Crossing, Sheeri, by personnel of Police Baramulla, 46 Rashtriya Rifles, 53 CRPF and 112 BSF.
During the checking, a person travelling on foot from Namblan-Goriwan towards Sheeri allegedly attempted to flee after noticing the naka party. He was apprehended and identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, son of late Mohammad Sultan Ganie, resident of Namblan, Sheeri.
Police said that during his search, a pistol with magazine, 10 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, one Redmi 14C mobile phone and two Airtel SIM cards were recovered.
INVESTIGATION LED TO UAPA CHARGES
Following the recovery, FIR No. 37/2026 was registered at Police Station Sheeri and an investigation was initiated.
According to the order, during further investigation, police alleged that the accused had received a pistol with magazine, 10 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and two hand grenades from terrorists in the Namblan forests in August 2024.
The police order further states that the accused was allegedly carrying the arms and ammunition on the directions of terrorists with the intention of carrying out a terror act against police personnel and civilians in Sheeri, Baramulla.
TWO HAND GRENADES RECOVERED FROM HOUSE
During the subsequent investigation, police said that two hand grenades were recovered from the residential house of the accused.
The order further alleges that the accused had provided shelter and logistical support to terrorists in the double-storeyed house during 2024 and had allegedly used the premises to facilitate terrorist activities in the area.
Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, police stated that the property fell within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” as defined under Section 2(1)(g)(ii) of the UAPA and was therefore liable for attachment.
DGP APPROVES PROPERTY ATTACHMENT
The order states that, in exercise of powers under Section 25 of the UAPA, 1967, prior approval has been accorded for attachment of the double-storeyed residential house standing on land under Khasra No. 423-min at Namblan, Sheeri, Baramulla.
The order bears the approval and signature of DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat.
The property attachment is part of the legal proceedings arising from the investigation into the alleged possession of arms and ammunition and alleged provision of shelter and logistical support to terrorist elements.
