Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Sanjeev Verma, today issued firm directions to District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to intensify efforts for the identification and enrolment of all eligible citizens, particularly left-out electors and young people becoming eligible to vote for the first time.

Chairing a review meeting with election authorities, the CEO stressed that every eligible citizen must be given an effective opportunity to secure registration in the electoral roll through the ongoing process of continuous updation. He called for focused intervention in cases where eligible persons have attained the required age but remain outside the electoral register.

Verma directed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to undertake systematic house-to-house visits and maintain direct accessibility for citizens requiring assistance with enrolment and submission of statutory forms. Officials were specifically instructed to extend necessary support to persons experiencing difficulties in completing or filing the required documentation.

The CEO underscored that procedural hurdles must not prevent any eligible citizen from being enrolled. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening the accuracy, completeness and inclusiveness of the electoral rolls across Jammu and Kashmir.
