Jammu, October 07, 2026:
A special “Medicine on Wheels” medical camp was organized today at Bus Stand, Jammu with the objective to promote health awareness and provide basic medical screening for free, to Traffic Police personnel, commercial drivers, passengers and the general public. It was organized by Traffic Police City Jammu in collaboration with SIBA Event Management & Innovations Cooperative Ltd. (Sidharth & Baljeet).

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Mohd. Haseeb Mughal-IPS, DIG Traffic Range Jammu, in the presence of Sh. Amit Bhasin-JKPS, SSP Traffic City Jammu, Sh. Arvinder Singh Kotwal-JKPS, Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu, and other Traffic Police officers and personnel.
During the visit to the medical camp, the DIG Traffic inspected various medical stalls and interacted with doctors and paramedical staff. The camp included various types of check ups like vision test, cardio-vascular parameters like blood pressure measurement, orthopaedic examination, physiotherapy exercises, skin, hair, nutrition, dental and general health check-ups.
Special focus was laid on the health and fitness of commercial drivers, with doctors sensitizing them about the risks associated with fatigue, stress, poor eyesight and other health conditions that may impair concentration and reaction time. The DIG Traffic Jammu emphasized that “a healthy driver is a safe driver” and advised drivers to undergo regular medical check-ups and avoid driving when unwell or excessively fatigued.
Traffic Police personnel were also imparted basic training such as providing first aid, basic life support, CPR etc to help in responding to medical emergencies and road accidents, to save precious lives. The training included learning to respond to cardiac emergencies, sudden illness or collapse, traffic accidents , safe handling of injured persons and timely coordination with professional medical services. The DIG stressed that Traffic Police personnel are often among the first responders at accident and emergency sites, making basic emergency-response knowledge essential.
The public and the drivers were further sensitized about road safety and the proper use of Emergency Helpline Number 112 for road accidents, medical emergencies and other situations requiring immediate assistance.
Speaking to the media, the DIG Traffic Jammu highlighted the importance of conducting such camps at bus stands, transport hubs and other high-footfall traffic locations and directed the concerned Traffic Police officers to explore organizing similar health camps regularly. He also apprised the gathering that annually in J&K around five thousand people are injured and around a thousand loose their lives to road traffic accidents. He urged the general public to obey Traffic rules so that these numbers can be brought down.
The DIG Traffic appreciated the efforts of Traffic Police City Jammu and SIBA for organizing the initiative and reiterated that health awareness, responsible driving and timely emergency response are vital components of road safety.
