Petition Seeks Action Against Senior Authorities for Alleged Violation of Court Directions

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 11 :

The Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear on Sunday a contempt petition seeking action against authorities for allegedly violating the court’s directions regarding the availability of metro and train services during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in the national capital.

According to the cause list uploaded on the Supreme Court’s official website, the matter is listed before a Bench comprising Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana.

The petition has been filed by Advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi, who has sought the initiation of contempt proceedings against senior officials over the alleged non-compliance with the court’s directions concerning public transport services during the protest.

The respondents named in the petition include Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Chairperson D. Thara.

The petitioner has alleged that the authorities failed to comply with the court’s directions intended to ensure that metro and train services were not subjected to a “complete prohibition” in connection with the protest.

The plea seeks legal action against the concerned authorities for the alleged disregard of the court’s directions. The matter is listed for hearing before the Supreme Court on Sunday.

The outcome of the proceedings will depend on the court’s consideration of the allegations and the submissions made before the Bench.(KNC)
