Srinagar, Oct 27 :

Firecrackers and drums marked celebrations in Kupwara on Tuesday as supporters of National Conference leader Mir Saifullah welcomed his induction into the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, saying Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had fulfilled his promise of better representation for the district.

“We are thankful to Omar Abdullah for fulfilling his promise. We are proud of our leader and minister, Mir Saifullah,” residents of the Trehgam Assembly constituency told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

“NC is the only party whose MLA has not compromised on the interests of the people. When it comes to Jammu and Kashmir and its youth, others compromise,” the residents said.

Mir, a four-time MLA, won the 2024 Assembly elections with 18,002 votes. After taking oath on Tuesday, he pledged to work for people across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir. —(KNO)
