In a tragic incident, one and half year old boy died of asphyxiation and his mother fell unconscious after they kept their traditional charcoal stove Angithi aflame in their room at Andergam village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday evening.
Locals said that mother and son were found in state of unconsciousness when they were cooking meals in kitchen room of their residential house in traditional charcoal stove Angithi at Andergam Pattan.
They added that family had kept Angithi aflame which caused suffocation in the room due to which the toddler died while as his mother is critical and was shifted to SDH Pattan where from doctors referred her to SKIMS Srinagar for advance treatment.
The slain child was identified as Ayan Ahmad Ganai son of Mohmmad Akram Ganaie of Andergam while as his mother Amina Begum has been shifted to SKIMS Srinagar in critical condition.
Death due to suffocation of has shocked the entire area and pall of gloom descended on Andergam village.
Meanwhile, a senior police official that a police party had reached the spot and they were ascertaining the cause of their death.
