Jammu, Dec 24:
The Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against Chander Shekhar Vohra, proprietor of M/s Asian Associates, for allegedly offering a bribe of ₹30,000 to the Superintendent of Police (SP), City South, Jammu, in a bid to secure undue official favour.
According to an official statement issued here, the ACB produced the chargesheet on 24-12-2025 before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu, in connection with FIR No. 01/2024, registered under Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The statement said the case was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu on the basis of a written complaint lodged by the then SP, City South, Jammu, alleging that Vohra had approached her seeking an extension of the exhibition-cum-sale date at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, and offered ₹30,000 for facilitating the request.
During the course of investigation, a special team was constituted, following which the accused was caught red-handed inside the SP’s office while offering the bribe amount, in the presence of independent witnesses. The bribe money was recovered, seized on the spot, and formally documented, the statement added.
The ACB said the investigation established offences of bribery and attempt to influence a public servant for illegal gratification, and the case was accordingly concluded as proved, leading to the filing of the chargesheet for judicial determination.
The bureau reiterated its appeal to the public to remain vigilant against corruption and to report any such incidents through official channels.
