The raid was conducted by a team from ACB led by Superintendent of Police Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Insiders at Anti-Corruption Bureau told news agency Kashmir News Trust that raid was conducted after receiving information that Passport Office Srinagar has issued some passports in favor of some persons, ignoring adverse reports from Counter Intelligence Department.

Sources added that ACB had received information that a person accused in BOPEE Scandal-2013 was also issued a passport though CID had given an adverse report against him. Besides, sources said that a passport had also been issued to a foreign lady, living in an Asian Country.

Sources further said that documents have been seized to ascertain the facts. During the raid cell phones and computers were also checked. “The raid last for over 3 hours,” sources said.

When contacted for the response from the Passport Officer Srinagar, he said he will brief media about the raid tomorrow.

“The job of ACB is to expose corrupt. If somebody is demanding bribe, ABC has to trap and arrest him. There is a proper procedure. If ACB needed some files, they should have written to me, I would have provided. Passport Office has done a lot for the people of Kashmir from past many years. The things have changed and we are here for the benefit of the people,” BB Nagar told KNT.
