Extension of the term of the current leadership for three years

Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Jammu and Kashmir today held a special session on the subject “Current issues facing the Kashmiri language, including the importance of script for the preservation of the language”.
The meeting was attended by prominent writers, intellectuals, musicians, journalists and civil society members of the valley.
The meeting was presided over by renowned Urdu and Kashmiri writer Professor Muhammad Zaman Azarda, along with Professor Naseem Shafai and AMK President Muhammad Amin But.
In the meeting, the speakers expressed their views on the current issues facing the Kashmiri language, including the importance and challenges of script for the preservation of the language. Taking serious notice of the attempt to change the script of the Kashmiri language, the meeting informed the government that Nastaliq is the only authentic and recognized script of the Kashmiri language and changing it will damage the historical and cultural importance of this language and will create a disconnect of masses with this language.
The participants in the meeting strongly demanded the government to give the Kashmiri language the status of a classical language and ensure the protection of its rights as an official language. The President of the AMK was given powers to form a committee to resolve these issues through the current government.
The chairman of the meeting, Professor Muhammad Zaman Azarda, appreciated this effort of the AMK and assured full cooperation from the attendees and stressed on organizing such meetings in the future.
The dignitaries who attended the meeting included Professor Farooq Fayyaz, Ayyash Arif, Shabbir Mujahid, Waheed Jilani, Altaf Hussain, Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Inayat Gul, Shafi Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad Dilshad, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Rukhsana Jabeen, Ghulam Nabi Dar Hajni, Shakeel Qalander, Ijaz-ul-Haq, Aijaz Ahmed Kakro, Patron of the AMK Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Ashfaq Lone, Dr. Shafqat Altaf, Mushtaq Ahmed Mushtaq, Gulzar Ahmed Ganai, Shabbir Mezan. At the end of this important and special meeting, the First Vice President of the AMK Shakir Shafi extended special thanks to all the participents.
During the meeting, the poetry collection “Kath Sabzan Hunz” by Syed Masood Shadab, a senior member of the Karwan-e-Adab Dub Ganderbal, was also launched.
Before this special session, an important meeting of the Executive Council of the AMK was held at the conference room Tagore Hall under the chairmanship of the President Muhammad Amin But. At the beginning of the meeting, General Secretary Shabnam Telgami presented the agenda of the meeting, which was later discussed in detail. An important decision was taken in the meeting that term of the office bearers of the AMK was unanimously extended for a period of three years. All the members jointly ratified the extension of the term of the current office bearers. On this occasion, Shakir Shafi was unanimously elected as the vice president first of the AMK.
