Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather who is also Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) For AC-Handwara today reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in a meeting of Sector Magistrates, Supervisors and Police officers here at Town Hall Handwara.
At the outset, the ARO called for strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged upon all the concerned for strict adherence to all the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
The ARO emphasized on providing a level playing field to all the political parties to ensure free, fair and smooth conduct of elections in the sub division.
The meeting also held a threadbare discussion on various issues including vulnerability mapping, timely reporting on defacement of public and private properties, availability of Assured Minimum Facilities at all polling booths, deployment of micro observers, resource availability, manpower, logistics, transport, video surveillance, SVEEP training and EVM management.
Instructions for sensitization of subordinate staff regarding strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct were also given to all the nodal officers. ARO directed that FST and SST teams shall work in coordinated manner as per the guidelines of ECI. The ARO also instructed on arranging comprehensive training sessions for all the AROs and nodal officers regarding MCC and other ECI guidelines.
