After a gap of over 30 weeks, the authorities today allowed reopening of historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar for Friday prayers.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Jamia Masjid was reopened today after a gap 30 weeks and Friday prayers will be today at the central Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar and Anjuman Auqaf general secretary Mohammad Altaf also confirmed to KNS that Jamia Masjid has been reopened and Friday prayers will be held today.

On February 28, divisional commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, SSP Srinagar along with other officials had visited the masjid to take review of arrangements for its reopening.
