Government has asked all Deputy Commissioners to convene DISHA meetings regularly as per guidelines notified by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
“DISHA Committees at the State/Union territory and District Levels are important instrument/platform for efficiently monitoring the implementation of various Central Government Programmes/Schemes aimed at a common goal for accelerated development through convergence and ensuring that the benefits do reach the poor in a time bound manner,” reads a circular issued here by the government, a copy of which lies with SNS.
Being an important step towards good governance, it is imperative that the meetings of the DISHA Committees are held regularly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Rural Development, Government of India, where inter-alia detailed discussions are held on the implementation of development programmes by involving all stakeholders, it reads. However, during a recent review undertaken by the Government of India, it has been observed that the DISHA meetings are not being conducted on regular basis in many districts of the States/Union territories, a matter which was viewed with concern by the Authorities, the circular noted.
“It is accordingly, enjoined upon all Deputy Commissioners to convene DISHA meetings regularly as per guidelines notified by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India in this regard, being monitored the highest level both in Government of India and the Government of Union territory of Jammu& Kashmir.”
