SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER,15 :
An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of Anjuman Urdu Sahafat Jammu and Kashmir was held in Srinagar, presided over by the Patron-in-Chief, Mr. Hamid Hameed. The meeting focused on critical organizational matters and laid out plans for the future of the organization. Key members present included President Riyaz Malik, General Secretary Bilal Furqani, Organiser Showket Sahil and Provincial President Kashmir Raja Irshad, and Vice President Mr. Ishrat Bhat, who participated virtually.
The meeting was attended by all Executive Committee members, including Manohar Lal Gami, Zahid Mushtaq, Shabir Malik, Imtiaz Khan,Azhar Rafiqi and Nazim Nazir. Discussions centered around revitalizing Anjuman Urdu Sahafat’s activities and planning future initiatives.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the success of the International Urdu Day program held on November 9th at Tagore Hall in Srinagar. The event was widely praised, and the Executive Committee expressed its commitment to organizing similar programs in the future to promote Urdu journalism and culture.
The members discussed the need for renewed focus and activity, agreeing that the Anjuman had faced challenges in recent years, leading to reduced engagement. With the formation of a new, elected Government, the Committee decided to prioritize reactivating the Anjuman’s operations.
As part of the new strategy, special attention will be given to the Jammu region, with various upcoming programs planned. Furthermore, younger members will be given increased opportunities to step up and showcase their talents within the organization.
Additionally, the Committee resolved to facilitate specialized courses for those involved in Urdu journalism but unable to pursue formal education in the field. These courses will be held at prominent universities to enhance the skills and knowledge of such individuals.
In another key decision, the Committee announced that the current tenure would conclude in March next year. Transparent and fair elections will be held to form a new Executive Committee, with a special committee tasked with overseeing the election process.
