Top party leader says their acts demands disciplinary action and party disciplinary committee will take note of it; ‘Have resigned from party posts not basic membership,’ Says Vikar Rasool

Several senior leaders of the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir have resigned from their party posts over various issues including the demand for change in leadership in Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, sources said here on Wednesday.

Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that prominent leaders of the Congress party submitted their resignation to the party National president Sonia Gandhi and senior leader Rahul Gandhi.

They said that the leaders include G M Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vikar Rasool, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Naresh Gupta, Subash Gupta, Amin Bhat, Anwar Bhat, Inayat Ali and several others

Sources said that they all have resigned from party post after the party high command ignored their long pending demand for change in the leadership in J&K.

Meanwhile, former minister and legislator from Banihal, Vikar Rasool while talking to KNS said that they have not resigned from the basic membership of the party but have resigned from party posts as their demands for change in the leadership in J&K have been ignored by the party high command.

A top party leader told KNS said that before going into the leaders should have waited for party high command’s response if they had submitted their resignation.

He said that their action demand disciplinary action and party disciplinary committee will take note of this. “Recently Sonia Gandhi had clarified that if any leader or worker has any grievance she is there to listen to them instead of reaching out to her through media,” he said. (KNS)
