A complaint regarding cheating was received at Police Station Ramnagar from one Babli Devi W/O Joginder Kumar R/O Koghar Marh, Ramnagar that while she was trying to withdraw cash from an ATM, one unknown man offered to help her in withdrawing money. Then he tricked her into handing over her debit card and gave her an identical but fake card. He later withdrew Rs 20,000/- from her bank account.
In this regard a case FIR No. 91/2023 U/S 420 IPC was registered at PS Ramnagar and investigation was taken up.
On the directions of Addl.SP Udhampur Sh. Anwaar Ul Haq, a special police team was constituted to crack the said fruad case. Police team headed by SHO Ramnagar Insp. Sohan Singh under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Sh. Vishal Manhas worked tirelessly and during the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up on the basis of generation of human as well as technical intelligence.
Later, one person namely Imtiaz Ahmed S/O Mohd. Hussain R/O Khabi Gandri Ramban was zeroed in.
He was put to sustained questioning during which he admitted his crime and on the basis of his disclosure, some recovery is likely to be affected.
People of the area have appreciated the professionalism of Udhampur police in tracing and apprehending of accused which, otherwise, was a total blind case as victim had no idea / clue about the cheater/ accused.
Udhampur police requests commoners not to take the help of unknown persons in any sort of ATM transactions and also not to share any OTP.
