BARAMULLA,August 09 :

Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Baramulla Police have arrested a woman and a man drug peddler in separate actions in Old Town Baramulla and Kunzer, recovering contraband substances from their possession.

In the first incident, Police Post Old Town Baramulla received specific information from reliable sources that a woman, namely Yasmeena wife of Reyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Punchetra Janbazpora Baramulla, had concealed charas-like substance in her house. Acting swiftly, a case under FIR nr 144/2025 U/S 08/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Baramulla.

A raid was conducted at the suspected house in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and three independent witnesses. During the search, 215 grams of charas-like substance, wrapped in maize husks and concealed in a black polythene inside a black purse, was recovered. The contraband was seized on the spot and the accused was immediately arrested.

In another action, a police party from Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO PS Kunzer, had established a checkpoint at Chichilora Kunzer. During checking, one vehicle Blaza bearing registration number JK01BA-9539 was intercepted. The vehicle was being driven by Habil Yaseen Dar S/o Mohammad Yaseen Dar R/o Tarhama. Upon search, 07 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized. In this regard, a case FIR nr 80/2025 U/S 08/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police station Kunzer.

Baramulla Police remains committed to making the district drug-free and appeals to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling or other anti-social activities. We reassure the community that strict action will be taken against such offenders in accordance with the law.“
