Baramulla, 14 February 2026:
Baramulla Police, acting on reliable information, arrested a person for possession of contraband substance in the jurisdiction of Police Post Old Town.
Police received input that one individual namely Riyaz Ahmad Khan, S/o Late Ghulam Nabi Khan, R/o Janbazpora, was attempting to sell charas in the area. Accordingly, a police party was immediately deputed to the spot and an Executive Magistrate 1st Class was informed.
The suspect was apprehended and during his personal search, a green polythene bag containing 58 grams of charas was recovered.
In this regard, FIR No. 17/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been initiated.
Baramulla Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and will continue to take strict action against those involved in drug peddling.
