In a resounding tribute to the region’s literary and cultural legacy, the Baramulla Writers Forum organized a grand mushaira at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of poets, students, writers, and literary enthusiasts from across North Kashmir, reaffirming the power of poetry as a vehicle of cultural expression and social reflection.
Presided over by renowned literary figure Prof. Ghulam Hassan Baig, known by his pen name Aftab, the mushaira featured an impressive roster of celebrated poets including Fayaz Tilgami, Mushtaq Kirmani, Anzar Mohjoo, Nazir Talib, Rashid Kanispori ,Maqbool Farozi ,Showkat Habib, Bashrat Bukhari, Dr. Parvaiz Yousuf, Mrs. Rehana, Dr. Riyaz Rabani, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Bashir Zoogari, Sagar Nazir, Ibni Shahbaz, Gul Mir, Abdul Ahad Aliham, Abdul Gafar, M. Sultan Mulani, Sadia Showkat, Sabir Mohiuddin, Tameel Bashir, Tahural Rehman, Muneeb Narwari, Rafaqat Hafeez, Mudasir ,Shabnam Vijpuri, Mufti Bashir, and Abdul Rehman Sayha.
The event was marked by deeply evocative recitations, spanning themes such as love, identity, resistance, social justice, and human resilience. The diverse poetic styles and voices on display offered a panoramic view of contemporary Kashmiri thought and sentiment. Audience members were visibly moved by the heartfelt verses and the powerful messages conveyed.
A notable highlight of the event was the generous support extended by prominent businessman tycoon Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir & Co, propriter of Mint Business Centre Baramulla who sponsored the mushaira. His contribution was widely appreciated by both organizers and participants. Speaking briefly at the event,Nazir Ahamed Mir encouraged poets and writers to continue their literary pursuits and promised ongoing support for cultural and intellectual forums that promote the rich artistic traditions of the Valley.
Students from Government Degree College Baramulla also participated in the gathering, adding a youthful energy and underlining the growing interest in literature among the younger generation. Their involvement was a testament to the importance of such events in inspiring future voices of Kashmir’s literary community.
