Jammu , March,11:

Bashir ahmed veeri mla bijbehara raised the issue of daily wagers, CPWs, CLs, DRWs, HDF workers, PDD and Forest casual laborers, Health, RDD, CIC operators, Wildlife casual laborers, Fisheries, Agriculture, Horticulture, and Irrigation casual laborers, as well as SPOs, who have been virtually running various schemes and departments of the administration for the past 15 to 20 years on meager wages. Many of them are now approaching old age without any job security or financial stability.

These young workers protested yesterday at Srinagar, demanding justice, and I urge the government to address their plight, especially in light of the Supreme Court’s recent observations and criticism of the Union Territory administration.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court, in a case slams J&K Government for ignoring Court orders on regularization of few daily wagers for 16 years , strongly reprimanded the administration for its inaction. The bench, comprising Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, expressed shock at the government’s failure to implement court orders, calling the conduct of officials “prima facie contemptuous” and a “textbook example” of authorities acting as if they were above the law.

The bench further observed: “The inaction of the officers of the petitioner—Union Territory administration—took 16 years to comply with a simple High Court order, which is shocking.”

The government must take immediate action to regularize these workers, recognizing their years of dedicated service and ensuring they receive the dignity and security they deserve.
