Baramulla, Sep 12 :

Burglars looted cash, set the documents and other goods on fire, and ransacked the house of a police officer’s widow in North Kashmir’s Goigam Kunzar village of Baramulla district.

The widow Gulshan Akhtar told news agency Kashmir News Trust that unknown burglars barged into her house in her absence and decamped with cash.

She said her brother Nazir Ahmed had kept his cash in the house for construction purposes and that has been looted by the burglars.

“After looting cash, the burglars ransacked the house, stole important documents from the house, and even set goods on fire,” she said.

She claimed that besides Rs 8 lakh, the thieves looted jewelry as well.

“I don’t know what was the intention of the burglars and why they set the goods on fire and stole house-related documents,” she added.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. (KNT)
