HANDWARA, SEPTEMBER 30 :

Police on Thursday lodged a formal case against a Facebook user for allegedly resorting to ‘abusive language’ against a middle-rung revenue official in Handwara in north-Kashmir’s Kupwara.

An official in the knowhow of the things told GNS that Naib-Tehsildar Qalamabad approached the local police station with a complaint against a Facebook user over the latter’s alleged abusive comments and messages against him. The revenue official sought a formal case be registered into the matter.

Taking cognizance of the ‘abusive act’, the police registered a case against the accused person identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar from Mawer Bala, the official said.

Meanwhile a police official told GNS that a case has been registered against the accused person for necessary action. (GNS)
