The Centre has approved 44 flood management projects for Jammu and Kashmir since the Eleventh Plan, through an estimated cost of ₹ 2,594.12 crore; of this, ₹805.27 crore has been released as central assistance till March 2025.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti informed the Lok Sabha, as said to a news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that Jammu and Kashmir has received funds for 43 flood management projects under the Flood Management Programme (FMP) during Eleventh and Twelfth Plans, while one more project was approved for the 2017–26 period.

Additionally centre has released ₹25.91 crore to J&K against an approved allocation of ₹9.98 crore under the River Management Activities and Works related to Border Areas (RMBA) component.

The Ministry clarified that flood management projects are implemented by State and UT governments, as the Centre provides technical support and financial assistance for flood control works in critical areas—(KNO)
