Srinagar, July 10 :
As Supreme Court is scheduled to hear pleas challenging abrogation of Article 370 on Tuesday, Centre has defended the move in its affidavit filed before the top court.
According to the affidavit, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS) Centre said that the move brought unprecedented stability and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
It stated that due to abrogation of Article 370, there has been normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir with strikes, school closures and stone pelting being a thing of the past.
The Centre said that there has been zero stone pelting incidents this year, while 3-tier panchayat system has also been established in the Union Territory.
It added that application of Central laws like Right to Education has been extended to Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370, while it has helped in dismantling the terror ecosystem.
Supreme Court will, for the first time, hear a batch of pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370 tomorrow. (KNS)
