Contradictory Remarks by BOSE and Education Ministry Worry Parents,
PDP Leader Rafique Rather Demands Clarity.
Jammu January 22, 2025:
Widespread confusion and uncertainty have gripped students and parents across Jammu and Kashmir due to the chaotic state of books distribution. Contradictory statements from the Board of School Education (BOSE) and the Education Ministry have only added to their growing concerns, leaving them in a state of frustration and anxiety.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Rafique Rather has strongly criticized the conflicting narratives presented by the authorities, stating that despite the winter season nearing to its end, students are still waiting for their textbooks. “The ministry continues to issue empty promises, claiming that books will arrive soon, while BOSE asserts that sufficient books are available and distribution is underway. Meanwhile, the Directorate of School Education has issued orders for winter tutorials, and children visit schools daily in the hope of receiving books—but schools are yet to receive any,” Rather said.
He further added, “The conflicting statements have created a serious dilemma. If books are available, why have they not reached the schools? If they are not available, why is the ministry misleading the public? Parents and students deserve clarity on the actual status of book distribution.”
Teacher turned politician Rafique Rather has demanded immediate clarification from the concerned authorities, urging them to come clean on the issue and ensure that the required textbooks are delivered to schools without further delay. The party emphasized that education is a fundamental right, and such lapses are unacceptable, particularly when students are eager to resume their studies post-winter break.
Rafique Rather called upon the government to take urgent measures to streamline the distribution process and prevent such mismanagement in the future. The party also urged stakeholders, including school administrations, to come forward and present the real picture so that appropriate action can be taken.
