KUPWARA, JUNE 23:

His Lordship, Justice Shri Pankaj Mithal, honourable the Chief Justice of the common High Court of J&K and Ladakh accompanied by his lordship Justice Shri Vinod Chatterji Koul, Judge High Court of Jammu and Kashmir (Hon’ble Administrative Judge for District Kupwara) visited District Court Complex, Kupwara and inaugurated bar block, bar room and library at District Court Complex, Kupwara and thereafter interacted with Judicial Officers, Civil Administration and members of Bar associations of Kupwara and Handwara.
The Honorable Chief justice also inaugurated make-shift Court complexes at Trehgam (court of Sub-Judge) and Kralpora (Munsiff) during the day long programme of his lordship. Hon’ble dignitaries included Mr Jawad Ahmad Registrar General and Mr Rajiv Gupta Principal Secretary to The Hon’ble the chief justice.
At the arrival of the Chief justice, ceremonial guard of honour was presented by the district police and Lordships were welcomed by Mr Tasleem Arief Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, Mr Imam Din, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Bar president Kupwara, Shiekh Majeed and Additional SP Kupwara and Handwara with presentation of Bouquets.
Thereafter a separate interaction with the lawyers was held in the court complex in which Bar president Kupwara Mr Shiekh Majeed welcomed the dignitaries.
The Chief Justice stated in the interaction with Bar that Kupwara district being far flung is the priority of the Hon’ble High Court to ensure smooth judicial administration and any glitches in completion of judicial infrastructure shall be removed very soon. He also thanked the Judicial Officers and bar members for the warm hospitality and welcome shown. The chief justice enquired about legal services being provided by District Legal Services Authority from Secretary DLSA, Mr Muzamil Wani, who informed the lordships that they have received more than 200 distress calls on their help desk during the COVID lock-down with respect to food, medicine, vaccination and other basic necessities. The Chief Justice was briefed about the working of front office and PLV’s in the district by the Secretary DLSA Mr. Muzamil Wani and lordships expressed satisfaction at the work of legal services of Kupwara district.
Honourable Shri Vinod Chatterji Koul, speaking on the occasions stated that district Kupwara also appreciated the warm welcome and appreciated the arrangements and facility in bar block. He assured the bar members of full co-operation so as to meet the goal of easy access to justice for all. The visit of the Hon’ble Chief concluded with ceremonial plantation of a chinar tree at forest campus Zangli kupwara which was facilitated by DFO Kamraj, Mr Zahid Mughal.
