SWP, Cost Efficient Technology to Empower Farmers, Asserts Saurabh Bhagat

Urges People to avail benefits under Various Govt Welfare Scheme

In order to review the progress being made in the district under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, the Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology Department Jammu and Kashmir, Saurabh Bhagat today paid visit to Dak Bungalow Baramulla here where he chaired a meeting with all the district and sectoral officers.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presented a district profile through Power Point Presentation and briefed the chair with regard to the progress of the said scheme in the district.

The meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to implementation of installation of Solar power Agriculture pumps in the district and Solar Photovoltic System (PV) under PM-KUSUM, Yojana.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary highlighted various benefits and incentives being extended by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under Prime Minister Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Uthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, which is primarily meant for uplift of farmers.

Elaborating further, the Commissioner Secretary said that Solar backed irrigation mechanism has been introduced under the PM-KUSUM scheme and is bound to transform the agriculture sector and also enhance the livelihoods of small to marginal farmers.

He said that the scheme launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Government of India envisages distribution of subsidized Solar powered Agricultural pumps to the farmers. He urged upon the farmer community to avail benefit of the scheme which is only government scheme with large subsidy.

For the first time, farmers can have control over water and electricity supply through solar water pumps (SWP), this new cost efficient technology is bound to empower farmers” added the Commissioner Secretary.
