SSP Haseeb Mughal reviews situation in Ramban, inspects affected stretches, directs speedy restoration and traffic regulation

Emphasising that commuters’ safety remains the foremost concern, DIG Traffic Range Jammu Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal on Wednesday conducted an extensive inspection of National Highway-44 in Ramban district amid continuous rainfall, reviewing traffic conditions and ongoing restoration works at several vulnerable locations.

Dr Haseeb Mughal-IPS, the DIG Traffic Range Jammu conducted an extensive tour to assess the prevailing traffic situation and to inspect ongoing road restoration work at various locations in District Ramban.

The DIG visited critical stretches at Nashri, Dhalwas, Karool, and Peerah, where the road had been blocked due to continuous rains and incidents of shooting stones, resulting in disruption of vehicular movement.

During the inspection, the DIG interacted with Traffic Police personnel and officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to have feedback about the progress of restoration work.

The DIG Traffic also issued necessary on-the-spot directions to ensure expeditious clearance of the affected stretches, safe release of stranded vehicles, and efficient regulation of traffic along NH-44.

Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS, DIG Traffic Range Jammu, was accompanied by Sh. Raja Adil Hamid, JKPS, SSP Traffic NHW Ramban and Sh. Sajjad Ahmad Kahn, JKPS, DySP Traffic Ramban.

The DIG also held a meeting near the Check Post Nashri, where he emphasized the importance of physical presence and alertness of Traffic Police personnel on the highway. He also stressed the need for proper management of two-way traffic in close coordination with the local administration and district police.
Furthermore, directions were issued for maximum utilization of public address (PA) systems and regular dissemination of traffic advisories to keep the general public informed.

He also directed that Traffic Control Units (TCU) Jammu and Ramban be updated regularly regarding the real-time traffic situation.

He interacted with the media persons at the spot and appealed to the general public that in view of the current situation of the highway, they should seek updates from TCU, Police Control Rooms before planning their travel so as to reduce their inconvenience on road.

Furthermore he also requested the commuters to cooperate with the Traffic Police deployment on NH-44.
