A senior lecturer was suspended by the J&K Government a few days ago for contracting a second marriage in violation of the rule 22 of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971.
As per an official communique from the office of the Chief Education Officer Budgam, the erring government employee Showkat Ahmad Rather, a senior lecturer of Persian subject, who was posted at Government Higher Secondary School Wagar Khansahab, Budgam, had committed an act of bigamy without divorcing her first wife and not obtaining the permission of the government.
Months later, the government issued an order for the suspension of the lecturer for the violation of rule 22 of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971 and attached him to the office of the Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal.
Further, it was also ordered that Rouf Rehman, Joint Director Education (Central), Kashmir shall conduct an in-depth inquiry into the conduct of the delinquent officer.
