Govt says over Rs 3,800 cr released this fiscal to settle payments

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that unpaid liabilities amounting to Rs 2,705.38 crore are pending in various treasuries across the Union Territory on account of contractors’ bills and General Provident Fund (GPF) payments.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the minister in charge, while replying to a legislator’s query, said that unpaid contractor bills stand at Rs 205.70 crore, while pending GPF liabilities total Rs 2,499.68 crore.

The Finance Department informed that during the current financial year 2025-26, payments of Rs 1,890 crore towards contractors and Rs 1,953.80 crore towards GPF have already been released as of October 16, 2025.

The department said the clearance of pending bills is being carried out in a structured manner across all sectors, depending on the availability of financial resources—(KNO)
